History and System
The main competition in South Korea is Korean Mathematical Olympiad which started in 1987. It used to consist of two rounds for high schools, the first round (two 3-hour sessions) being held in November and the final round (in the IMO format) in April. The system was slightly reorganized in 2003 when a junior ``middle schools’’ category was introduced and a preliminary round added, so that the ``first’’ round was renamed the ``second’’.South Korea at International Competitions
South Korea has participated at IMO and Asian-Pacific MO since 1989. In the recent history, the best success of a Korean team on an IMO is the first place at IMO 2012. The team for international competitions is selected during the training program.Problems
