Problem Collection for Moldova

History and System

Mathematical competitions in Moldova have been held since 1957, when it was a par of Soviet Union. The national round is held in early spring and consists of eight problems in two days for each of the 7th through 12th grade. This format is relatively common among the former Soviet republics.

Moldova at International Competitions

Moldova, a member of Soviet Union until 1991, has participated at IMO independently since 1993 and at Balkan MO since 1997. The best success of their team on the IMO in the recent history was the 17-th place in 2004. Teams for Balkan MO and IMO (which are not the same in general) are selected through a few selection exams held in early spring after the National Olympiad.
